The Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) is a 737-700 airliner reworked as a private aircraft, with up to 18 seats, a 2.16 m cabin height and a published range of 6,000 nm, and neither of the two aircraft in our June 2026 snapshot discloses a price. In Asia and the Gulf it serves governments, large family groups and conglomerates in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Delhi, Beijing and Dubai that need a bedroom, a meeting room and staff on board.
The June tails are a 1998 aircraft with 5,307 hours in Missouri and a 2009 aircraft with 3,220 hours in Spain. We source the aircraft, verify its records, set up an independent pre-purchase inspection, and run escrow closing, delivery and registration support.

What a BBJ is: 737 lineage and variants
The original BBJ pairs the 737-700 fuselage with the strengthened wings and landing gear of the heavier 737-800, plus auxiliary fuel tanks in the cargo holds. It flies on CFM56-7 engines and uses the 737 Next Generation flight deck, so crews need a 737 type rating. Boeing followed it with the BBJ2 on the 737-800, the BBJ3 on the 737-900ER, and now the BBJ MAX family.
The airliner roots cut both ways. Parts support and trained engineers are everywhere, but heavy maintenance follows airline-style planning and a bespoke interior makes each aircraft unique. Buyers usually compare it with the largest purpose-built cabins, such as the Global 7500 or G650ER, which cruise faster on our figures (516 kt against 470 kt) but cannot match the BBJ's floor space.
Boeing BBJ range: missions from Jakarta, Delhi and Beijing
Our data sheet gives 6,000 nm at a 470 kt cruise. On a BBJ that figure depends on how many auxiliary tanks are installed and how heavy the completed cabin is, so we check both for each aircraft. Distances below are still-air great-circle.
- Kuala Lumpur to Riyadh, 3,420 nm, and Jakarta to Riyadh, 3,980 nm. Comfortable, useful for family and religious travel to Saudi Arabia.
- Delhi to London, 3,650 nm. About 61% of range.
- Beijing to London, 4,420 nm. Around 74%.
- Hong Kong to London, 5,220 nm. About 87%, realistic when tank count and cabin weight allow.
- Singapore to London, 5,890 nm. That is 98% of range, so tank count, passenger load, reserves and the winter jet stream decide whether it goes nonstop; Delhi splits it into 2,250 nm and 3,650 nm.
BBJ price and the June 2026 listings
Neither BBJ in the June 2026 snapshot shows an asking price: one reads 'Make offer' and the other 'Please call'.
- 1998, 5,307 hours, Missouri. 18 seats, master stateroom with shower, a pre-purchase inspection completed in February 2026, offered turnkey.
- 2009, 3,220 hours, Spain. 16 passengers plus 6 crew, TCAS 7.1 and ADS-B Out Version 2; the seller advertises steep-approach capability and names Cannes and London City.
Bizliner prices hinge on factors that matter less on a purpose-built jet: the completion's quality and weight, auxiliary tank count, cycles as well as hours, where the airframe sits in its heavy-check cycle and the life left on engine parts. Sellers share figures on request, and we check each listing is live before we pass details on.
BBJ pre-purchase checklist
- Heavy checks. Ask when the last heavy maintenance visit happened, what it covered, and when the next is due under the 737 programme.
- Engines. Neither June listing states an engine programme. Review CFM56-7 life-limited parts, shop history and borescope results, and decide whether to enrol in hourly cover.
- Cycles and directives. Track airworthiness directives for the 737 Next Generation fleet against this airframe's cycles.
- Auxiliary tanks. Confirm the number fitted, their inspection status and the certification paperwork.
- Completion records. The interior approvals, weight and balance and fire-blocking data must transfer with the aircraft.
- Avionics. TCAS 7.1, ADS-B Out, FANS 1/A+ and CPDLC for Europe; the 2009 aircraft lists the first two.
- Earlier inspections. A February 2026 report on the 1998 jet is a useful start, but we would still commission our own.
- Corrosion. Check cargo areas around the tanks and galley and lavatory floors, especially for a humid Asian base.
Boeing BBJ for sale into Asia: registers and basing
Asian and Gulf owners register BBJs nationally, for example in the UAE (A6-), India (VT-), Indonesia (PK-), Malaysia (9M-) or mainland China (B-), or offshore on marks such as San Marino (T7-), the Isle of Man (M-) or Bermuda (VP-B). For VT- registration, factor in India's IGST on import and have an adviser confirm the current treatment. Basing is the harder question: a 737 needs hangar and ramp space that many business aviation terminals were not built for, and the operator should run airline-type maintenance. Our aircraft registration guide compares the registers.

Can a BBJ fly Jakarta to Riyadh nonstop?
Yes. Jakarta to Riyadh is 3,980 nm great-circle, about two-thirds of the 6,000 nm published range, so there is margin even with a heavy cabin and full reserves. The exact figure depends on the auxiliary tank count, which we confirm for each aircraft.
How is a BBJ different from a Boeing 737 airliner?
It starts as a 737-700 but uses the stronger wings and landing gear of the 737-800 and carries auxiliary fuel tanks for range. The cabin is a bespoke VIP completion rather than airline seating. Mechanically it remains a 737, which helps with parts and trained engineers worldwide.
How many passengers does a BBJ carry?
Up to 18 on the figures we publish. In June 2026 the 1998 aircraft is set up for 18 with a master stateroom, and the 2009 aircraft for 16 passengers plus 6 crew. Seating depends entirely on the completion, so we ask for the cabin diagram.
