The Hong Kong register: B-H, B-K and B-L
Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department (CAD) runs its own register. Since 1997 local aircraft carry China's B nationality mark followed by marks beginning H, K or L, so a Hong Kong jet reads B-Hxx, B-Kxx or B-Lxx. Many owners here still choose an offshore flag, for example a Cayman Islands (VP-C) or Isle of Man (M-) registration, partly for financing reasons explained below and partly because an offshore jet is easier to sell to a buyer abroad.
HKBAC and parking at Chek Lap Kok
Business aviation at Hong Kong International Airport runs through the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre (HKBAC), open since 1998. An expansion completed in 2025 enlarged its site and executive terminal and was designed to double its annual handling capacity. Parking and hangar space are still the constraint to solve before delivery, not after. Macau and Shenzhen, each 20 nm away, are the nearest alternates.
No VAT or duty, but structure still matters
Hong Kong charges no VAT, GST or import duty on an aircraft, so the questions move to the owning company and where the jet will operate. Lenders financing a Hong Kong owner often prefer a register covered by the Cape Town Convention, which is one reason offshore flags are common; our financing guide sets out what they ask for.
Routes from Hong Kong and what fits them
Taipei (450 nm), Manila (620 nm) and Shanghai (680 nm) are light-jet trips. Singapore (1,380 nm) and Bali (1,870 nm) suit a midsize, Dubai (3,200 nm) and Moscow (3,860 nm) a large-cabin jet, and London (5,220 nm) a heavy or ultra long range type. The June 2026 snapshot had no aircraft based in Hong Kong, so a purchase here usually means a ferry from the US or Europe; our page on delivery flights to Asia covers the routing.

WhatsApp the Asia desk directlyBuying a private jet in Hong Kong: FAQ
Can I buy a private jet in Hong Kong?
Yes. Private Jets Asia lists 133 pre-owned private jets and turboprops available for delivery and import to Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR. We handle the acquisition, from sourcing and inspection to registration and import, for buyers based in Hong Kong.
What taxes apply when importing a jet to Hong Kong SAR?
No import duty or VAT on aircraft; B-KA / B-L registrations are popular for mainland-China-facing owners. HKBAC offers dedicated FBO handling.
Which airport handles private jets in Hong Kong?
The traditional capital of Asian private aviation, served by HKBAC at Chek Lap Kok.
Does the Cape Town Convention apply to a Hong Kong-registered jet?
No. When the Convention took effect in mainland China in 2009, Hong Kong and Macau were left outside it, so the registry remedies lenders rely on elsewhere do not reach a B-H, B-K or B-L aircraft. Financed jets owned from Hong Kong therefore often sit on a register such as Cayman or the Isle of Man.
How far is Hong Kong from Tokyo by private jet?
1,570 nm great-circle to Haneda. Most light jets in our listings manage it, though the Citation M2 falls short and the CJ2+ is marginal, and any midsize has room to spare. Business aviation slots at Haneda are limited, so request them early.
Which private jets can fly Hong Kong to New York nonstop?
Teterboro is 6,990 nm away. On published figures only the Global 7500 (7,700 nm) and G650ER (7,500 nm) cover it, and winds, payload and reserves still decide each flight. Every other type in our listings would plan a fuel stop.
