Light jets for Asian island and regional hops
Most light-jet flying in the region is under 1,000 nm: Kuala Lumpur to Phuket (360 nm), Singapore to Jakarta (490 nm), Jakarta to Bali (510 nm), Hong Kong to Manila (620 nm) or Singapore to Bali (900 nm). Every listed type flies these with reserves. Singapore to Hong Kong (1,380 nm) is within reach of all 15, though the Citation M2 (1,550 nm) keeps a thin margin with a full cabin. Longer legs split the field. Singapore to Taipei (1,750 nm) is beyond the M2 and CJ2+ and marginal for the Bravo, Encore and CJ3, and Singapore to Mumbai (2,120 nm) suits only the Learjet 60XR, with the CJ4 right at its limit. Runways matter too: the PC-24 is approved for unpaved strips, while the Learjets trade field performance for speed.
Engines, programmes and support in the region
The engine shapes running cost more than the badge. The CJ family, M2, PC-24 and Nextant use Williams FJ44 engines (Williams TAP programmes); the Bravo, Encore and Phenom 300E use Pratt & Whitney Canada PW500-series engines and the Learjet 60XR PW305As (ESP); the Learjet 70 and 75 use Honeywell TFE731s (MSP). A light jet on a programme costs more per hour and resells better. We would also confirm the nearest factory-authorised service centre for the type, since a jet based in Jakarta or Manila may need to position to Singapore for scheduled work. If your cabin is full on every trip, the step up is a midsize such as the Citation XLS+.
Light Jets: buyer questions
What is the cheapest business jet for sale?
In the June 2026 listings the lowest published ask was $1,495,000 for a 2002 Citation Bravo, followed by a 2010 Citation Mustang at $1,850,000. Cheap to buy is not cheap to own: older jets may need avionics upgrades and carry engine overhaul exposure, so we price those before comparing aircraft. Our financing guide covers how lenders treat older jets.
Which light jet can use short or unpaved runways?
The Pilatus PC-24 is the one designed for it, with approval for unpaved surfaces and up to 8 passengers in our data. Any rough-strip plan still needs the local authority and your insurer to agree, plus a survey of the runway itself.
How many passengers do light jets carry?
Between 6 and 9 in our data: the Citation M2 seats 6, the Learjet 75 and CJ4 up to 9, and most others 7 or 8. Real loads are lower once bags go in, which matters on resort trips with golf or dive gear.
