The Cessna Citation XLS+ is a midsize jet from the Excel/XLS line with nine seats, a 1.73 m cabin, a 441 kt cruise and 2,100 nm of range in our data. The June 2026 snapshot listed four, with disclosed asks of $6,500,000 for a 2009 aircraft in the Philippines and $6,895,000 for a 2010 in the US, and in Asia it suits short regional sectors such as Singapore to Bangkok, Jakarta to Bali and Mumbai to New Delhi.

It is not a long-range aircraft and we will not pretend otherwise. Its case rests on a proven airframe, a large fleet with wide parts support, and good manners on shorter runways.

Citation XLS+ range: which Asian routes fit

With 2,100 nm in our data, the XLS+ is a regional tool. Great-circle distances against that figure:

  • Singapore to Bangkok, 780 nm, and Jakarta to Bali, 510 nm: easy sectors.
  • Hong Kong to Shanghai, 680 nm, and Manila to Hong Kong, 620 nm: short hops from a Manila or Hong Kong base.
  • Mumbai to New Delhi, 610 nm, and New Delhi to Dubai, 1,180 nm: well inside the range.
  • Singapore to Hong Kong, 1,380 nm, and Hong Kong to Tokyo, 1,570 nm: comfortable in normal weather.
  • Jakarta to Hong Kong, 1,760 nm, and Bali to Hong Kong, 1,870 nm: 84% and 89% of the figure. Load, wind and reserves govern these, and a full cabin or strong headwind can call for a stop.
  • Singapore to Mumbai (2,120 nm) and to Shanghai (2,050 nm): past or at the limit. Stop in Bangkok for Mumbai (780 nm, then 1,620 nm), or in Hong Kong for Shanghai.

Range figures assume a partial load; a full cabin shortens every leg.

Citation XLS+ for sale: four aircraft, one already in Asia

The June 2026 snapshot found these four:

  • 2009, 3,511 hours, $6,500,000, based in the Philippines: dual FMS, TCAS-4000 with Change 7.1, Textron ProParts.
  • 2010, 5,484 hours, $6,895,000, US: one corporate owner since new, nine-seat interior with a two-place forward divan, ProParts.
  • 2018, 862 hours, price on request, US: very low time for its age and a Honeywell RE100(XL) APU, no programme listed.
  • 2009, 3,499 hours, US: marked deal pending in June, nine seats, Gogo Avance L5, PowerAdvantage+.

For an Asian buyer the Philippine aircraft stands out: no transpacific ferry, and it can be inspected in the region. Before recommending it we would confirm its register, who has maintained it and whether it has lived in a hangar.

XLS+ price: reading the asks

Two disclosed figures are thin evidence, so we do not quote an XLS+ market range. They still show something: the 2010 aircraft, with about 2,000 more hours, asked $395,000 more than the 2009 in the Philippines. Location, cover, cabin and records all feed the number, not hours alone.

  • Engine cover: ProParts, shown on two listings, is Textron's airframe and avionics parts plan, not an engine programme. We check separately whether the PW545C engines sit on ESP or Power Advantage; if not, the buyer carries the next engine event.
  • Cycles, which pile up fast on short sectors.
  • APU: not every XLS+ has one, and on hot Asian ramps it matters for cabin cooling.
  • Avionics updates to the Collins Pro Line 21, including ADS-B Out.
  • Cabin age, connectivity and paint.

We can request the 2018 jet's figure from its seller.

From Excel to XLS+ and beyond

The line began with the Citation Excel in the late 1990s, which paired a shortened Citation X cabin cross-section with a straight wing. The XLS followed in 2004, and the XLS+ replaced it in 2008 with four-screen Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and FADEC-controlled PW545C engines. Textron later moved to the XLS Gen2, delivered from 2022, and announced the Citation Ascend in 2023.

The Citation Sovereign offers the same cabin height in a longer body with more range, a logical step for owners who want Singapore to Shanghai or Mumbai without a stop. Owners who mostly carry four people on short hops often cross-shop the Phenom 300E, a light jet with a smaller cabin.

Pre-owned XLS+ checklist

  • PW545C engine programme: level, transfer terms, and time remaining to the next hot-section inspection and overhaul.
  • Next major calendar inspection, and who pays for it.
  • Avionics: Pro Line 21 software, ADS-B Out, TCAS 7.1, WAAS and FMS setup. The Philippine jet already reports dual FMS and Change 7.1.
  • APU fitted or not, and its hours.
  • Corrosion: coastal bases such as Manila or Jakarta are hard on jets parked outside; look at wheel wells, lower fuselage and flap areas.
  • Connectivity: Avance L5, on one US listing, relies on a ground network that does not cover Asia.
  • Records and damage history, including any charter or fractional past.

Registering an XLS+ in the Philippines, Thailand or Indonesia

The Philippine-based jet may carry an RP-C registration or a foreign one; we check before any offer. Thai owners use HS-, Indonesian owners PK- and Singapore owners 9V-. Import duties differ by country, so a local adviser should confirm the tax position before closing, and some regional owners prefer Aruba (P4-) or the Isle of Man (M-). Our Manila page covers Philippine basing.

On every deal we source the aircraft, verify records, arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection, close through escrow and support delivery and registration.

Cessna Citation XLS+: buyer FAQ

Can a Citation XLS+ fly Singapore to Hong Kong nonstop?

Yes. The great-circle distance is 1,380 nm, about two-thirds of the 2,100 nm figure, so normal winds and reserves fit. A full cabin narrows the margin, but we expect it to work nonstop on most days, subject to the crew's fuel plan.

How many passengers does a Citation XLS+ carry?

Up to nine, and all four June 2026 listings were nine-seat aircraft. The cabin is 1.73 m tall with a dropped aisle, close to stand-up height for many passengers.

What is the difference between the Citation XLS and XLS+?

The XLS+ replaced the XLS in 2008, swapping Honeywell Primus 1000 avionics for Collins Pro Line 21 and PW545B engines for FADEC-controlled PW545C. The cabin is the same size; the gains are in the cockpit and engine management.
